    Brown presents here the modern understanding of ADHD as a neurodevelopmental dsyfunction of the brain's executive functions. His own model differs slightly from other researchers such as Barkley, but he is careful to present ideas from both models honestly and contrast the two, and it is clear from his account what is firmly established and what is still open to debate.
