The reason for my 1 star rating isn t because the book was bad in fact I believe many people will love it but because I was somehow and despite the nice hea kind of disappointed by itFirst of all I ll be honest I expected book 2 to be about Etan and Tristan whom I ve been liking as characters and as a potential couple since they met in book 1 so when I found out it was going to be instead about Cathal Etan s older brother and Flavian a new character altogether I was kind of put off Despite that tho I was able to or less enjoy book 2 for the most part especially because the author s style is very nice to read and generally sweet without being too much sugary So this was going to be a full 2 stars from me But then I found myself not completely convinced by a couple of turnouts view spoilertbh I couldn t like either that Cathal was ready to still go on with the arranged marriage to Velia even if he was in love with Flavian or that he and Flavian agreed to keep on having a relationship after the said marriage plus to tell Velia about it I mean what Am I supposed to appreciate the mcs honesty here or the sincerity of their love a love so great they are willing to drop any pretense and live their relationship in the light despite one of them being married Excuse me but why not make Cathal just call the whole marriage off instead especially since a political reasons were a farse as the Empire was to conuer Tournai either way and b even the king himself in book 1 refused to get into an arranged marriage and eventually proposed to a man Amory whom he loved it would have worked so much better for the purpose of proving what a deep love the mcs share in my opinion And the fact that Velia turned out to be a spy was so ridiculously convenient to the hea of Cathal and Flavian without the marriage cockblocking it any that it was almost meh hide spoiler Wonder Woman and Philosophy escape Ardunn a restrictive place in which Flavian’s preference for men is forbiddenEven when Cathal discovers Flavian’s true gender he cannot fight his attraction to him Flavian is intrigued by Cathal but Cathal is still betrothed to Velia and Flavian worries Cathal is taken with his feminine illusion tha.
