Sumnima a famous Nepali novel by B P Koirala a former Prime Minister of Nepal is about the painful complications that arise in a man woman relationship The story is about the powerful attraction that exists betwe. Sumnima is one of the best Nepalese novels I have ever read There s clear picture of ideology BP Koirala carried all his life in this novel His sincere take on love and sexuality in human life the futility of suppressing the natural desires and the aftereffects of those forceful acts its all there laid down in the most beautiful and convincing language This is a story of a Brahmin boy whose uest to achieve spiritual salvation forces him to abandon his love and suppress his desires for a Kiranti girl Sumnima who on the other hand understands and pursuits the desires of her body The story is a clash between two philosophies and both sound convincing enough even though I was always on the side of Sumnima from the start on the side of philosophy that teaches to embrace love and sexuality and not discard BP validates this side in the story when the Brahmin boy succumbs to a touch of Sumnima and melts in an instant even after ages even after he has supposedly gained spiritual emancipation This is an exuisite story one of the best in Nepali literature

not much of my kind of story I find BPK's work a little exaggerated on sex and life I would have liked the story if it was about the cultural diversions and how love fails and finds itself rather than the extended distraction on the nudity

It's an elegant work of imagination by BP that treads on the boundary of psychological and evolutionary science Being from a Brahmin family and having friends from backgrounds different than me I can relive and relish the imagery of the author in this novel It's so true yet so ethereal the tug of war between absistent virtues and carnal desires the hypocritical dogmas and natural harmony We want what we can't have and we try to shove our do
