Scribblers Cove – Snow

The first of the 2 fortnightly themes in Scribblers Cove Flickr group is Snow. I have 2 old photos I had to decide between for Snow. One was of the Rieju RS2 wearing carrots as eyes while covered in snow. The other was the Sinnis Trackstar pictured above. The Rieju is a better and funnier photo. The image above though, that was the start of a bad day. A light snow flurry in the morning, and it was off to work. It then started snowing again at 9am. It didnt stop the entire day. The journey home was hard. The A40 was at its usual stand still, but filtering up traffic lines in heavy snow, for 20’ish mile… That’s hard.

Like a lot of hardships in life though, I had a massive sense of achievement afterwards. Mainly for not dropping the bike once, and making it home 12 hours faster than anybody else in London that night.

Hallway

That pile of crap would drive you nuts right? I know it will drive me nuts. It has sat on the other side of the drawers up the end of the hallway for years. The 2 owl boxes and odds and ends of motorcycle parts.

The problem is, the hallway is long, and goes nowhere except under the stairs. Thats a few metres past the drawers that you can fill with crap and never see, look at and deal with.

Thats a problem. We put stuff in there and it just sits, from now until evermore. That does not sit well with my minimalist values. So I dragged some of it out, dumped it near my desk where I have to look at it and I know its going to drive me mental looking at that mess until I either sort it, tidy it or Ebay it.

Now theres a life metaphor. It’s easy to ignore things we cannot see isn’t it? Family, friends, health issues, that squeak at the back of the car or a leaky tap.

If like me, you lean to the OCD side of cleaning up a mess, try putting whatever you are ignoring in front of you. Put it where you have to keep seeing it. A new tap next to your alarm clock. The mechanics card on to your dashboard. A photo of family by your desk.

Gerald Gordge

Mr Gordge is awesome. I found his blog browsing the Art tag in WordPress, liked and followed and in return he drew this! Lily and 2 Sallys! I love it! Without a doubt one of the nicest and most out of the blue things anyone has done in the blogging community for me.

Thanks again Mr Gordge, thats awesome!

Look up the road

herald sinnis retrostar classic cafe renthal scrambler

On a motorcycle you ride in the direction you are looking in. Look around a corner, you ride around the corner, look at a tree, you ride at the tree.

Good analogy for life. If you look at office drama or family rows, you go into office drama or family rows. It then causes you headache, grief and ball ache nobody needs.

So when you find yourself looking at that sort of shit, stop. Look up the road. Towards the sun. Go that way. Its probably better.
