Ello Ello

Have you tried Ello.co? Its a social media network that prides itself on privacy and never selling ads. It came to the public eye last year as the media faced it off against Facebook. Somewhat unfair to face a startup with ethics against the squajillion dollar juggernaut of Facebook IMHO.

Ellos come back into my eye with an android beta. Only annoying thing I find so far is no sharing from gallery to ello. That’s how I share my pictures to all other social platforms.

It is an awfully friendly artistic hangout. I like it even if I don’t spend much time there yet. Last time I posted was November! Cripes!

Got an ello.co account? Say hello to me at https://ello.co/sableyes

I had tried Ello a year back. The concept was great and attracted many people like to to sign up to it. Bur once I actually found it, It seemed to be a bit off. It seemed as if its too silent and missing some vibe. Probably I didn’t us it the right way, but I felt it wasn’t my cup of tea.

The lack of hash tags at the start was irksome… Easier to find like minded people now. 😊

I’ll agree with Akshay, in regards to the “silent” aspect. At least from my perspective, there’s not a lot of interaction, and if you aren’t with the “in” crowd, people pass you by. (They also tend to ignore writers, leaning in favor of photography, design and fashion.) I did share my concerns during a survey they issued, and I asked for someone to contact me to discuss. No one ever did. I don’t know why I’m rambling on so and and being a bit bitchy, but I guess I’m just disappointed. The concept is great, but the execution is a bit hinky…

Ello is deffo more visual. I kinda think it’s more of an alternative to instagram than Facebook, which makes it hopeless for fiction.
