Free skillshare class on How I gained 1000 WordPress followers

For the time being this class is free.

A real bad case of ‘Can do better’. I have been holding audiences and talking over microphones for years online and in real life. I lead, others follow. I talk, others listen. That sounds big headed I know. But it is a skill I have built with years of experience. Usually off the cuff and never scripted.

So when I saw skillshare.com wanting teachers, of course it was an obvious route for me to take.

Fustratingly it did not go well. I did a short course on gaining WordPress followers. I recorded voice overs for a screenshot slideshow.

Once finished I published it and watched it. It wasn’t the worst thing I have ever done, but stone the crows it was awful compared to what I can do.

No personality, bland, not sharp and snappy like everything else I do.

So for the time being I have set this class to free. If it gets some decent reviews I’ll consider putting it up to premium.

A premium account costs as little as $0.99 for 3 months by the way and gives you access to the whole of skillshares premium site, so it’s still a good deal.

On the upside it’s been a good learning experience of using video editing software, audio software, and how to actually make a course. So I will be creating more courses in the next few weeks on other subjects and hopefully bring in my trademark snappyness and humour.

Hah! My voice is awful I that video. Lacks character and sounds nasal. 🙂 thanks for the compliment and we’ll wishes 😊

Is teaching on skillshare something you would consider? You look like you have character and would do well in front of a camera.

Hi there! As a fairly new blogger I found this advice really helpful on how to create useful new connections without being a spammy nuisance. Thanks for posting this! 🙂

I have been trying blogging for a while and am still figuring out the do’s and don’ts. I completed your course and it gave me some good strategies to practice. I love the fact that the focus is on finding a fit in the blogging community rather than getting more hits. Thank you!

You are welcome! I have little to teach, except to suggest use common sense while blogging and it will work out how you want it to work out 🙂

Glad you decided to follow my blog. This last particular blog post brought me 3 new followers nearly instantly. Mystifies me. Maybe I should try reading some of my poems and posting them. Hmmmm. You following is impressive!!

Was attracted by Dog 🙂 The dog lovers on WordPress are awfully active. Every photo I post of dogs always get a lot of likes.

The writing tag is also a good one if your going to post poetry.

My following is tiny compared to the big blogs in the hundreds of thousands. 😊

I left you another comment here yesterday but I’m sure it’s in your spam folder. I was having an issue with all my comments going straight to spam. It’s supposed to be resolved, but would you be so kind to look in there. I asked you a question about this class (Which i took when you had first posted it. 🙂 ) Thank you in advance.

Doh, saw the comment in spam, marked not spam, and it vanished. 😔

When I hit the WordPress spam limit it just said “unable to follow” when I tried following blogs and unlike posts I liked when I clicked off them and back.

I can’t say I noticed any comments being spam binned. I’ll give it a go over the weekend, but from what I saw you had to really aggressively be liking and following to hit a spam limit?

Will let you know what I find.

It’s in your pending folder I bet. After you say something is not spam, it moves it to your pending folder and then you have to approve it there. 🙂
