Insight Shampoo & Conditioner

What is it?
Insight Daily use Shampoo and Conditioner are a Salon orientated line of hair products. The Daily Use Conditioner and Shampoo contain organic lemon extract, apricot butter, sunflower oil and corn germ. Found them at Salon International London earlier this year.

How To Use
For the shampoo, rinse hair, apply to wet hair, distributing evenly, rinse shampoo out. For conditioner, apply to wet hair distributing evenly throughout, leave for 3/5 minutes, rinse out.

The Pros
They have a pleasant Unisex fragrance. The shampoo lathers up to an admirably¬† soapy froth and is a quick cleaner compared to most of the mens ‘shampoo and and body wash’ type of products I use. The conditioner was really good at leaving hair feeling¬† hair feeling full of life and bounce. Not something men often want, but I have obscenely thin hair. Anything that helps my barnet look like anything other than a drowned cat I will take. It can also be found really cheap. ¬£11 for 1000ml! That’s a lot of shampoo for the money! I mean, its about, you know, 10 lots of 100ml. Which is a lot.

The Cons
Seemed to be a salon aimed line, so may not be readily available in stores. Also the font style packaging may prevent it from taking off and being a big seller. I cannot think of many font packaged brands that have lasted any length of time.

The Take Away
You get a lot of good shampoo and conditioner for the money, even greater if you have thin hair. Would recommend.

#TacklingLoneliness

The British Red Cross today put out a notice saying the UK was suffering from a loneliness epidemic. The first 8 tweets I saw about it blamed social media. I disagree. I think that over simplifies a complex situation.

Look at me as a current example. I am the only one of my old friends able to afford to live in the area I grew up in London. My working hours and commute up to a month ago had expanded from 8 hour days to 12 hour days and beyond traffic allowing. On top of that financial insecurity has become a way of life for some people over the last 10-20 years. Life is no longer do a job, get paid, enjoy. None of us know if we will have a job tomorrow and the volatility of currency has ensured those with a small amount of money often do not want to spend it on leisure or down the pub.

If it was not for social media I would have had no social interactions outside of my missus for the last 4 or 5 years. If I had the time to stop and think about my situation over the last 5 years, I would have probably been pretty lonely myself. Social media may be in part to blame for the current loneliness epidemic, but it sure as heck is not the only thing to blame.

Woody’s Shave Relief Balm

What is it?
Woody’s Shave Relief Balm for soothing and moisturizing the skin post shave. Another from TheModernMan box a few weeks back.

How To Use
Squeeze some into your palms, apply to face and neck post shave.

The Pros
It works well for soothing and moisturizing. It has a pleasant citrus fragrance. The bottle is huge. 177ml! You do not need much, so even shaving daily this would last months. The price is pretty good too. I also like the branding. The surfer logo on the deep brown works very well. Unlike yesterday’s Morgans Moustache Cream, I like the look of this on my bathroom shelf.

The Cons
I do not have any cons Woodys Shaving Balm… Be wary if you do not like citrus smells?

The Take Away
Brilliant value for money, pleasant smell, makes the face all soothed and moisturized. Good for them that feel grizzled and rough after a shave. Better for them that get grizzled when having to shop for this stuff regularly.

Morgans Moustache and Beard Cream

(Pictured product is sample size, 20ml, actual product is full size 75ml)

What is it?
Morgans Moustache and Beard Cream is softening cream for beards and moustaches.

How To Use
Scoop a petit poi pea sized finger of cream, massage into moustache, comb through, style as desired.

The Pros
It smells pleasant and with just a few days use makes a noticeable difference. I mean it really does soften the moustache. Unlike pomades, Morgans Moustache cream takes the brittle edge off of your mo, meaning theres less chance of impaling your missus face when you give her a kiss.

The Cons
The branding. Oh god Morgans what were you thinking! If it was not for the Morgans quality name, I would not have tried this stuff. When you create classic branded products of ‘this kinda beauty and charm‘, why on earth do you whack that cheap hipster face on things?

The Take Away
I love this product, it is absolutely fantastic, anyone with a stiff moustache or beard should try this. I am sure it would make a good gift for Christmas. Not only for women buying it for men, but men gifting their women with a softer snog.

Dear Barber Moustache Wax

What is it?
Dear Barber Moustache Pomade with Oat, Jojoba and Argan Oils. Billed as being soft and workable while quick setting on the moustache. Another from TheModernMan box a few weeks back.

How To Use
Use a finger nail to swipe a tiny amount of the pot, and between your fingers to warm the pomade, rub into moustache, comb through, style as desired.

The Pros
One of the stronger moustache pomades. Its great for keeping stray hair in line, styling, and stays in there all day no matter how many times winter forces you to blow your nose. It feels more like a fiber. The scent is mild and pleasant, perfect for a moustache pomade. I like the classic styled branded too.

The Cons
The descriptions of Dear Barber Moustache Wax claim its specially formulated to remain soft and workable between the fingers. I found it generally hard even when warm. That is not a con for me, I love Dear Barber because its so strong. But if you want a soft pomade, this may not be the one for you.

The Take Away
Super strong pomade. Really good for styling. Is a go to Pomade for holding everything in place. Can make your moustache 80% more stabby. Be careful kissing your missus. Go in at an angle or something. If you want something softer, go for the Morgans.
